I _know_ I'm forgetting something...

Bleh, waited far too long to start writing tonight, this won't be long...let's see what I can get down prior to zonking out:

Saturday night finds us at the club with a slightly abbreviated group, as was the case last week, but still managed to have an incredible time. Club was surprisingly crowded though, didn't really expect that. Finally met the elusive D/N pair, who turned out to be every bit as much fun as represented. Looking forward to lots of fun times with these guys.

Out-of-context I-wish-I-hadn't-accidentally-overheard-it" snippet of conversation of the weekend:

"It's something I got when I got my divorce."
"Ah, so it was a celebratory thing then?"
"No, [I was still having sex, but] I got it to celebrate the event."

Add to the fact that it was ill-timed with what I was doing at the time, damn near made me laugh out loud at a most inopportune time. That would have been bad.

Spent a goodly part of Sunday enjoying the unseasonably warm weather on the shores of Lake Norman, Lunch at the Rusty Rudder, where one can motor one's boat right up to their dock and fuel-while-you-chow-down...how's that for convenience? My future 29' (I'm not greedy) Sea-Ray cabin cruiser would look mighty fine parked there with disembarking bikini-clad women bounding up the pier ramp to collect our calamari and "hot hole wings", (I didn't make up the name, damnit) yum. Good food, glorious day, idyllic locale, with some lovely scenery to accompany lunch. I'm almost completely convinced to take up lake life...

Post lunch, head back to the resort, walk down to the lake for an early spring blazingly red sunset/glassily tranquil waters photo op featuring Marley the rock-retrieving happy black lab and all his happy friends. Lake life is indeed good, and every bit as enticing as one could imagine.

The rest of the evening is comprised largely of ebullient conversation, effervescent hot tubbing, energetic but effete questing for midnight dining fare, erudite musings on the nature of people, and energetic consumption of decadent Brewster's turtle ice cream, and enervated television viewing.

Monday: Squandered the day researching iPod deals, cell phone calling plans, being generally lazy, attempting to pay for TiBook purchases, looking for my David Sedaris books, coming up with a list of stuff I need to do tomorrow/the rest of the week, etc. Stopped off at Sam's club and impulse purchased a giant bag (5 lb) of honey BBQ wings and they suckered me into a giant (4 lb) bag of crappy fish sticks (never shop on an empty stomach, remember?) by having a kindly old lady handing out yummy crispy breaded and fried hunks of pure artery-clogging goodness. Damn those kindly old ladies! My freezer is packed to the gills! Chatted with D about another possible Perch outing and some well-deserved (for both of us for being so patient/good!) playtime...can't wait for either!

Don't remember exactly when it came up, but I did research the last time we saw K and C, and it appears that y'all were correct, it probably was Valentine's weekend, and not "a week or two ago", as I claimed...no clue WTH I was thinking. What can I say, the weekends all go by so fast that I can't tell them apart! Lucky I didn't bet my fortunes on it, eh? ;) Sorry if I implied that y'all had faulty memories...we all know that that's MY affliction.

This weekend has been a case study in dichotomous learning: meeting new friends has helped me to remember the best parts of meeting new people, and feeling the rush of shared chemistry and liking what one learns about a person in the getting-to-know-you phase. Conversely, time spent with established friends serves only to strengthen said bonds, in deeper and more profound ways than previously thought possible. Do I seem to say this every other or third weekend? Damn, reading this blog must be getting old, I need new material...

Once again, sorry for the preponderance of typos, grammatical atrocities, I still haven't looked over the last entry, either...one of these days, I'm going to get motivated to go through and proofread...one of these days...
