Cabin fever is a dangerous thing...

Saturday turned out to be a near-complete bust. Crazy-ass Southerners don't have the foggiest idea how to deal with old man winter. Nor his candy-ass half brother, minor cold front. Barely even an inch of snow and a little freezing rain and the whole town is damn near closed. 13-car pileups on the expressway (apparently that's a yank term, no one here seems to know what that is), empty grocery store shelves, and closed businesses abound. Attempting to call out of work in these kinds of situations up North would get you laughed right out of said job. However, as it's been pointed out to me by so many of my good friends of late, it's all in the treatment (or lack thereof) of the snow/ice. If you don't do jack, the melting snow is allowed to refreeze, thus making everything inherently more dangerous. The plus side is more snow days. The cons are pretty much the same number of snow days if you're unemployed. Wonder what Odd Todd has to say about this? Never mind, doubt he's got to deal with frozen anything.

As a result, no one wants to venture out (nor should they, for the aforementioned reasons), and everywhere anyone would want to go is closed. So I end up at home, doing nothing but burning time on anything but what I should be doing (oh, say back taxes perhaps?)

So I'm all stir crazy at home on a Saturday night when I should be out partying like a rock star, doing damn near anything but what I should be doing, (say, the aforementioned taxes) Ended up on IM with Jenny the better part of the night/Sunday morning for no less than nine hours. Really feel a connection with this girl, she seems to be truly open minded (in a time where so many claim to be, but so few actually are (or even really know what it means)), just need to wrangle more "quality time" to see where things go.

Sunday afternoon plans consist of heading over to Skip & Lin's, have a small gathering there to chit chat and watch movies. We end up deciding on Harold & Kumar since Rusty and Ria haven't seen it yet, then follow it up with Sideways. Funny how parallel the two films are, with the whole wine snobbery thing substituting for the weed, and drunken rants substituting for dick and fart jokes. It's true that there's nothing new under the sun...H&K is still much better though, the Sideways ending sucked.

Bleh. I had a bunch more I wanted to write, but after sitting here for more than a few minutes, I think a nap is in order...
